If the calculator is to be aimed at learning hardware such as adders, multipliers and logic, then building the calculator from TTL or CMOS 4000 digital circuits is the way to go. You can use both methods, resistive divider or IC voltage level shifter. The IC translators are safer and more professional.

japanese digital circuits

I'm looking for information on digital circuits manufactured by NEC and Hitachi in the late 1960's. These circuits are commonly used in old digital calculators from the late 60's or early 70's.
